I learned how to make fabric boxes a number of years ago. They are wonderful projects on a small or large scale and I have made a range over the years from jewellery to sewing and now a box for my grandson where he can keep his special things. A box with trays and compartments, the fabrics reflecting his interests and skills!

I have run a number of courses teaching box-making and one student suggested that you could just glue the fabric onto the card. This is certainly faster but disastrous as the glue then prevents or hinders the necessary stitching with a circular needle. Lacing is time consuming but worth every minute!
